2/26/19

Today we took our quiz on Mesopotamia and I feel like I did pretty good but was unsure of one question about the name for the New Stone Age. We were required to do the section 2 assessment in our blog and here it is.

delta - A broad, marshy, triangular, area of land formed by deposits of silt at the mouth of the river
Narmer - The pharaoh who united upper and lower Egypt around 3000 B.C.; sometimes identified as pharaoh Menes
pharaoh - The Egyptian god-king
theocracy - The type of government which is based on religious authority
pyramid - The immense structure that was the pharaoh's tomb
mummification - The process in which royal's and elite's bodies were preserved
hieroglyphic - The flexible writing system developed by the ancient Egyptians
papyrus - Reeds which were used to make a paper for writing in Egypt

Main Ideas

3. How did being surrounded by deserts benefit Egypt?
The desert provided good defense and protection from invaders
4. How did the Egyptians view the pharaoh?
The pharaoh was viewed as the political leader and religious leader of the people
5. Why did Egyptians mummify bodies?
The preserve the bodies for the next lie.
